My name is Adam Salas and I am a piano performance
major. I began my study almost four years ago. Recently, I have also tried taking up violin and flute but sadly haven’t had
time to truly begin diligent practice. Instruments are an interest of mine and
I would like to start collecting them. Music is my passion in life and I am
very happy to have found something that I can spend my time doing. I can credit my family for revealing my talents by exposing me to private lessons and giving me the resources needed to succeed in music. In the past,
I wanted to be a marine biologist but I lost interest during AP biology once I
learned of the studies and long research papers that are conducted. I enjoy writing and
feel it is essential to the distribution of ideas throughout the world. I hope
to learn more about creative writing structure and how I can utilize its form
for my own benefits and career. I also
hope to stray from the five-paragraph essay. Although I am proficient in its
use, I never really understood its purpose. Perhaps it is just for formal
writing. I tend to connect most things with music and view writing a paper in
the same way as a composer writes music. Both assert an idea and develop on
those ideas ultimately creating an overall picture. I feel they have also evolved from past
structure to creative-free writing. The five-paragraph essay can be compared to
an early Beethoven Sonata while new creative writing can be compared to one of
his later romantic works. Popular culture has also expanded in this way. Communication
was once proper and structured but now slang and inappropriate conversation is
more prevalent. I am looking forward to English 101 with y’all and expect a
great semester!
